Garmin GPS navigation
The Garmin GPS navigation system has been developed by one of the leading companies in the GPS industry. The Garmin Company has been in business for many, many years and has been providing navigation units for cars, boats, and even handheld devices that can help the sportsman no matter what they are doing. When you have a Garmin GPS navigation system, you know you have a GPS that is reliable and guaranteed to work because they stand behind their products.
GPS technology was originally developed by the United States Department of Defense and was intended to be used for military purposes. Some companies - the Garmin Company included - thought that this type of unit would be especially helpful for the average everyday consumer, and they convinced the government to allow this technology to be released to them so they could develop GPS units that could help the common man.
What developed was navigation systems that make paper maps obsolete and arguments in the car on family vacations disappear. The Garmin GPS navigation unit is mounted either on the dashboard of the vehicle or somewhere inside the vehicle. It then utilizes satellites to help people get from point A to point B with a minimum of fuss.
What happens with a GPS system is that the unit sends a signal from where you are up into space where there are 27 orbiting satellites that are just waiting to receive that signal. Twenty four of these satellites are used to pinpoint the location of the GPS receiver. The other 3 are used as back ups in case one of the others malfunction or become unusable. Four of the satellites must focus in on the receiver and then a signal is sent back to the unit and then you can find out not only where you are but how you can get to where you want to be.
The Garmin GPS navigation system is one of the most reliable GPS systems on the market. While they use the same technology as all other GPS systems, the unit is what makes the difference. When you have a Garmin GPS navigation receiver in your vehicle, you know that you can depend on its reliability and accuracy.
They are constantly updating their products as well as the technology behind the products, check out the latest GPS models available. That’s why when you buy a Garmin GPS navigation system, you can rest assured knowing that you are getting a quality product. What can be better than that?
